Apple Orchard / Asking for Help!

Apple Orchard / Asking for Help!

A couple of weeks ago I started to have a REALLY hard time in this mom of two under two life, and I ended up calling my mom crying and asking her for help! This is something I normally never do (ya know, ask for help... I like to think I'm invincible right?!), so it was actually really hard but I was proud of myself for reaching out instead of suffering in silence like I used to do so often! Basically, our beloved Paykel (my first doggie who has been with me alllll over the place and through all my tough phases in life) got really sick and was up all night long for three straight nights- getting sick and running down the stairs constantly to go outside. He'd then wake up both kids and then we'd have to get them back to sleep and it was just too much to handle. I found myself unable to even stay awake during the day when I needed to be taking care of both kids. It seemed like I was in a daydream and I didn't even know if I was awake or asleep! We don't have much family around or a lot of help for during the week - Adams family helps out on the weekends when they can and we are always so grateful for that, but sometimes during the week I have felt like I'm drowning! Soo I called my mom in tears, and she literally drove all the way from Michigan to Wisconsin the next day to help out. It was amazing. She helped with the kids, with our insanely messy house, and most of all she encouraged me to reach out for some help during the week. I never considered hiring any kind of help with the kids yet, especially since I'm not technically working. But with two young kids and a husband who works full time during the week, and no help during that time, I just finally broke down and started looking for help. I called my doula that helped with Ollie's birth and she's now coming over a couple of times a week to help with the kids and it has been so incredibly helpful. It's only a couple of hours here and there, but if any of you have kids you know how valuable a couple free hours can be!! So I get a chance to catch up on cooking, laundry, blogging, errands, etc. It is something I really needed for my sanity and I didn't even realize it until I almost came to a breaking point! The reason why I felt the need to write all of this is because 1) my mom is amazing and she literally came and rescued me!, and 2) I want to encourage anyone who's reading to reach out and ask for help when you need it. We all need help from time to time and we're all in this crazy ride together. No matter how put together someone may appear, you never know what's going on in their life. So, help others when you can, and ask for help when you need it! Here's some photos from a quick trip we all made to the apple orchard before she left to go back home! Isn't my momma beautiful?!
