8 things I'm grateful for

Thanksgiving just passed and this time of year I cannot stop thinking about everything I am grateful for. I usually try to incorporate some sort of gratitude practice into my life on a regular basis but I feel extra grateful on Thanksgiving when we have a whole day devoted to being thankful. We are in the midst of some changes right now since we just moved from Wisconsin, where we had lived for the past six years and where we had both our kids, and now we are in Michigan, where I am originally from!

One week

One week ago, my sweet, sweet grandma passed away. Honestly you guys, to know this woman was to love her. Completely and fully. Adam said that when he thinks of her he thinks of only love. And honestly, he never even knew my grandma before her dementia kicked in. But even through all of the suffering of that disease, up until the very end, she radiated and exemplified pure love. It was incredible to see.

Weekend brunch!

So lately I've wanted to get back into what I started this blog to begin with, which is a place to keep memories of our family! Lately on weekends we've been going to our favorite restaurant downtown and just enjoying each others company.

One Year!

The first post I ever wrote in my blog was one year ago today! That seems so crazy to me because even though I would like to write in it so much more than I do, I feel like I've had it for years. I am so happy that I (finally) started this adventure when I did and I had no idea where it would take me!

Mom Guilt - On Letting Go

I recently posted a poll on my Instagram where I asked how many moms out there feel mom guilt on a DAILY basis, and 78% answered YES. 60% of poll-takers said that they feel guilty every time they do something for themselves. Every time! This made me so sad! These answers got me thinking about where this guilt comes from, and what we can do to lessen it. I think overall we are all trying our best as parents and mothers. If we're truly trying our best then why are we so hard on ourselves?

Pumpkin Patch

While we were on our way to the pumpkin patch this a couple weeks ago, I remembered that we had taken Ollie there just a year ago! He was only 5 months old and we were probably just in the beginning of my pregnancy with Poppy but didn't know it yet. Going back to the same place, one year later and with so much that had changed was kind of surreal!

Friday inspiration: Elsie de Wolfe

Do you guys ever get so inspired by something that you just HAVE to sit down and write about it? That happened to me tonight while looking up the author of one of my favorite quotes: "I am going to make everything around me beautiful. That will be my life."

Breastfeeding Tips

There are a few things I have done to keep my milk supply up, and I'd like to share those with you as well as things I did to help facilitate it coming in as quickly as possible.

Two year anniversary + wedding video!

Today marks our two-year wedding anniversary! It's so crazy to think it's been that short of a time because we've packed SO MUCH into those two years. We bought our first house, had a baby and then had another baby all within such a short amount of time!

Life With TWO!

Well I really got away from writing in here for a while but I guess that can happen sometimes! We are all adjusting well to life with two, but Adam isn't actually back to work yet! He goes back on Wednesday and I'm wondering how it will go! Thankfully he has been home this whole time since having Penelope, because poor Ollie has been teething pretty badly and was cutting molars all weekend long.

35 weeks

Well I spent the whole weekend thinking I was 36 weeks and kinda freaking out that we only had four weeks or less until baby came, but then on Monday I realized I was 35! Whew! Haha. We need all the time we can get! Ollie has just started learning how to walk and it is seriously the cutest thing ever...

34 weeks!

Well I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again...where did this pregnancy go?! I never could've imagined how fast it would fly by while having a little one to chase around. Lately I have been missing being pregnant with Ollie because there's nothing quite like being pregnant with your first

Botanical Gardens

This past weekend we went to Madison for a celebration of life for Adam's uncle who unfortunately recently passed away. It was a beautiful ceremony and I was amazed at how many people were there to tell incredible stories of his uncle Jim. He will definitely be missed. It was actually great to see cousins and aunts/uncles on that side of the family who we don't get a chance to see very often! On our way into Madison we stopped at the botanical gardens and if you are ever there in the spring or summertime I think this is a must see!

Oliver's First Birthday

Okay so I'm writing this a little late but we had the best birthday party for Oliver a couple of weeks ago! Family came in from Michigan and Madison and we had some good friends there too! It is always so nice having everyone in the same place together especially since both of our families are from different states. Lately I have been wishing that we were both from the same place so we could just see family more often!

Ollie's birth story!

Since today is Ollie's first birthday I wanted to sit down and take a few moments to write about his birth. I have tried writing about it many times and have failed, so let's see if I can get it all out this time!
